Snow Accretion Prediction Method Using WRF Calculation Results

چکیده
North part of Japan is one of the heaviest snowfall regions in winter. In a certain case, wet snow accretes to civil engineering structure such as power lines. There is a demand for the prediction that when the snow accretion will occur. General weather forecast is not enough resolution and meteorological variable for estimating snow accretion. By calculating weather condition on our own account, we can extract related information about snow accretion, and use for prediction. In this study, we consider about the snow accretion prediction method using numerical weather prediction model WRF.

Improving the WRF model’s (version 3.6.1) simulation over sea ice surface through coupling with a complex thermodynamic sea ice model (HIGHTSI)
Sea ice plays an important role in the air–ice– ocean interaction, but it is often represented simply in many regional atmospheric models. The Noah sea ice scheme, which is the only option in the current Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model (version 3.6.1), has a problem of energy imbalance due to its simplification in snow processes and lack of ablation and accretion processes in ice. ...

Microphysics parameterization plays an important role in Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP). Most NWP models, including the Weather Research Forecast (WRF) model, use single-moment (bulk water) schemes derived based on an assumption of the exponential distribution with a fixed intercept parameter for raindrop size distributions (DSDs) such as the Marshall-Palmer (M-P) DSD model (Marshall and Pa...
متن کاملImpact Analysis of Climate Change on Snow over a Complex Mountainous Region Using Weather Research and Forecast Model (WRF) Simulation and Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer Data (MODIS)-Terra Fractional Snow Cover Products
Climate change has a complex effect on snow at the regional scale. The change in snow patterns under climate change remains unknown for certain regions. Here, we used high spatiotemporal resolution snow-related variables simulated by a weather research and forecast model (WRF) including snowfall, snow water equivalent and snow depth along with fractional snow cover (FSC) data extracted from Mod...

One of the grand challenges of the Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) mission is to improve coldseason precipitation measurements in midand high latitudes through the use of high-frequency passive microwave radiometry. For this purpose, the Weather Research and Forecasting model (WRF) with the Goddard microphysics scheme is coupled with a Satellite Data Simulation Unit (WRF–SDSU) to facilit...
متن کاملA Simplified Solution for Advection Dominated Accretion Flows with Outflow
The existence of outflow in the advection dominated accretion flows has been confirmed by both numerical simulations and observations. The outow models for ADAF have been investigated by several groups with a simple self similar solution. But this solution is inaccurate at the inner regions and can not explain the emitted spectrum of the flow; so, it is necessary to obtain a global solution for...
